Name Marianne FerreroAbout Experimentation and play are central to my work. I enjoy exploring the potential of material and processes, often moving between 2D and 3D. I am interested in combining several processes in one image especially linking painting with photography and printing to create a combination of the gestural and graphic. I am fascinated by the possibility of creating variations of one image or motif. I am interested in the way that a motif can become ambiguous when repeated, taking on new associations and exciting the viewers' curiosity. Heightened colour and strong contrasts also have a strong appeal to me as does playing with light and shadow. The reflection, shadow or trace of an object attracts me much more than the object itself. The subject of my work is frequently the everyday object or experience. I am intrigued by the possibility of making the ordinary extraordinary through my work and elevating what might at first appear entirely mundane. While I have explored ideas of claustrophobia and entrapment in my work, its current mood, while still reflective, is increasingly celebratory. While not all my work is directly autobiographical, I aspire to make work which is unique in that it is a genuine, heart-felt expression of my experience and my relationship to the world. If my work interests you, I would love to hear from you. My contact details are below. |
